Dial-Up
Networking allows you to use your modem to make a network
connection to the Internet.
Note:
You may have already installed "Dial-Up Networking"
when you first installed Windows. Please follow these steps
to ensure that the necessary components are installed.
Click on Start, Select Settings and then Control Panel and
double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Click on the Windows Setup property tab.
Select Communications from the Components list and then click
on Details.
Ensure Dial-Up Networking and HyperTerminal boxes are checked.
Follow any instructions that may appear when you check or
uncheck boxes.
Click on OK.

note:
The following steps are only required if you
added components you have not previously installed. Otherwise,
Dial-Up Networking is installed and you can proceed to the
next section.
Insert
your Windows 95/98 Setup Disk as prompted. This processes
will take some time. Windows 95/98 may ask you for a computer
and workgroup name. Type in names as you feel are appropriate.
For example, for Computer name enter NiuLogic and for Workgroup
enter Home/Work or anything. Click on Close.
Insert
your Windows 95/98 Setup Disk(s) as prompted. Remove any disk(s)
from your disk drives. Reboot your computer by clicking on
Start and then Shut Down; click on Restart the computer? and
then on Yes. Now that Dial-Up Networking is installed, you
will be asked for a user name and password. Enter a user name
and password if you desire, or leave them blank if you do
not wish the logon window to appear again.
